Giving back to the place we rely on

A relationship with nature, with people and with the place we are part of, shaped by choices made over time, in the rhythm of work and in encounters with real consequences. Forkprint is our way of putting into words how we run the business, how we take responsibility for the consequences of what we do, and how we seek to give something back to the whole we are part of.

What is Trasti & Trine's Forkprint

Forkprint is the sum of experiences, values and actions built by the hands of Johnny Trasti and Trine Lyrek, and carried on by the people working here today. It was not developed as a concept on a drawing board, but has grown out of lived work, slow choices, missteps, learning and commitment. This is not a finished system, and it never will be.

Forkprint is an ongoing work, constantly in motion, where direction matters more than a definitive answer. Much like the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, it is the whole, the craftsmanship and the intention that give meaning, not the act of being finished.

For us Forkprint is a living whole, anchored under the Trasti & Trine name and logo. It is not a side project, but an integrated part of how we think, work and develop—every day.

Forkprint encompasses everything from how we make food and choose ingredients, to how we collaborate with the people, the ingredients and the stories behind the experience, teach craft, welcome guests, develop our staff and respond to a changing world. Each part can stand alone, but together they give a clear picture of who we are and what we want to contribute.

This is our relationship to meahcci, which in Sámi can be understood as a life in, with and of nature — a symbiosis built on responsibility, respect and reciprocity. Forkprint is therefore a holistic framework for operations, values and responsibility. It is where our guiding principles—living, robust and creative—take practical meaning in the way we make choices, meet people, develop the business and relate to the nature we live in, with and from.

The Trasti & Trine Forkprint Foundation will turn values into action. Through the foundation we aim to give back to the community we are part of, the people we work with and the nature we depend on, so that value creation also leaves lasting traces.

The ForkPrint Foundation

Collaboration behind the experience

At Trasti & Trine we want to move from distance to proximity in the value chain. Suppliers are not an "other" outside us, but part of the community that shapes the quality guests encounter. When we better understand each other's realities, we can plan more wisely, be more resilient in change, and create more credible stories together.

«Together — being WE all the way — is the goal»

Education and learning

At Trasti & Trine we want to give students and apprentices room to learn with their hands, senses and curiosity. Through ingredients, seasons, craft and food made from scratch we aim to pass on a love of food. At the same time we create a space where young people can think creatively, build resilient professional skills and take part in developing something living—for the place, the craft and the future.

By nature

Trasti & Trine is built by nature, not just surrounded by it. Through Forkprint we acknowledge that the landscape, the seasons, the animals and the raw materials are the very foundation of our enterprise. Of nature is about working with respect for nature's rhythm, taking responsibility for the traces we leave behind and letting nature be a premise for the choices we make, not just a backdrop to the experiences we offer.

From distance to closeness

What the guest experiences with us begins long before they sit down to a meal, meet the dog sled team or open the door to their room. The experience is shaped by the people, the ingredients, the knowledge and the choices behind it. That is why, over time, we have become increasingly focused on reducing the distance in the value chain around us. Not because we want more control, but because we want greater understanding.

In the Community

Trasti & Trine is part of Alta, not only as a workplace and destination, but as part of the community that shapes the place. Through Forkprint we want to contribute to vibrant local communities, create space for learning and inclusion, and support initiatives that strengthen people and belonging. Responsible value creation is also about giving back to the community we live in, with and from.
