Fish cooking course

The nature of the North provides us with high-quality ingredients throughout the year. From the icy sea we harvest fish with a clean taste and firm texture. Cod, halibut, redfish and other species are shaped by the Arctic climate and the clear waters they live in. This produces fish that is fresh, natural and full of character — reflecting the nature it comes from.

Our food and bar courses

I have worked as a chef my whole life, and since 2005 I have had the pleasure of creating food based on local ingredients from Finnmark. Through food experiences, courses and dinners at Trasti & Trine I want to share the flavours, stories and traditions from the north with you.

Course on learning about fish

You will receive guidance and a thorough introduction to fish, as well as how we work with the ingredient in the kitchen. We go through what the fish is used for, how it can be prepared, and how to best preserve flavour and quality.

Then you will join us in preparing a simple but flavorful lunch dish together. Along the way you will try some of the practical parts of the cooking, before we finally sit down and enjoy the meal together.

Storytelling

We start all courses by explaining the annual cycle we use — when we harvest ingredients, from birch sap in May to the last mushrooms we pick. We tell stories about the nature around us, about Arctic plants and vegetation, how we use them and how we preserve them, including fermentation, drying and salting.

Two ways to experience the adventure

We offer both public and private tours. On our "public" tours there will be up to twelve guests, and you'll have the opportunity to meet other adventurers from around the world.
For private tours you book all the spots, whether you're traveling alone or with friends and family. You get a guide at your disposal, and everything is tailored to your wishes – flexible in terms of start and end points, as well as the activity's duration.
