The dogs are the heart of everything we do. We always put their welfare first and want to share the joy of activities with our dogs, the nature and life in the north with our guests.
I have worked as a chef my whole life, and since 2005 I have had the pleasure of creating food based on local ingredients from Finnmark. Through food experiences, courses and dinners at Trasti & Trine I want to share the flavours, stories and traditions from the north with you.

The sound of eager, expectant dogs fills the air. They stand ready in front of the sleds, waiting only to get going. Maybe you feel that tingle of excitement and anticipation yourself. The gate opens. The dogs lunge forward. Then it becomes silent. Wonderfully quiet. The sound of paws and sled runners is the only thing that breaks the stillness. Are you ready to try dog sledding?
In the dark, cold air eager dogs stand ready in front of the sleds, full of energy and expectation. They are just waiting for the signal that will set everything in motion. Maybe you can feel the excitement building too. The gate opens, and the dogs rush off. Then silence settles, broken only by paws in the snow and sleds gliding. Above us the Northern Lights can dance across the sky. Will you join?
You stand on your own sled, with your own dog team in front. The dogs are eager to get moving. You will spend a whole day out on the trail with these four-legged athletes — in the forest, on the river ice, or up on the mountain. Do you accept the challenge?
Experience two of Alta's most iconic winter activities in one evening. First, dog sledding through the winter forest with a cheerful pack of huskies, where you'll feel the silence, the darkness and the beam of your headlamp. Afterwards you'll join a Northern Lights hunt with GLØD Explorer, searching for the dancing lights in the night sky. Two separate experiences, one unforgettable evening in Finnmark.
The sun has just returned after two months below the horizon. The light at this time of year is something you must experience — it cannot be described. The blue Arctic light is completely unique. The 'blue hour' lasts all day, and we may also get a glimpse of the winter sun. In the evening there is a good chance to see the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. All this in addition to dog sledding tours. Will you come along?
The Finnmarksvidda in April simply must be experienced. The days are long and bright, the sun warms your face, and the Finnmark plateau is there to be enjoyed. When you can also drive your own dog team and experience all of this from behind the sled, isn't that the perfect way to end the winter season?
