Respect for a changing Arctic

Resilience is about taking responsibility even when the solutions are not the easiest. That's why Trasti & Trine have chosen a plant-specific guarantee of origin from the Hakkstabben hydropower plant in Finnmark through Ishavskraft. It gives us documented local renewable power, and is a concrete choice for the nature we live in, with, and depend on.

For us, climate change is not something distant or theoretical. We live and work in the Arctic, a region that is currently warming at roughly four times the global average. The changes are felt not only in research reports, but in the seasons, in snow conditions, in the nature around us and in the way we plan our operations.

As a tourism business, we are fully aware that our existence is tied to the nature we live in, with, and depend on. That is precisely why we believe responsibility is not about claiming the work is done, but about continuously challenging ourselves to do more. Forkprint is based on the idea that value creation brings with it a responsibility to understand and reduce the traces we leave behind.

The decision to purchase plant-specific guarantees of origin from a power plant in Finnmark is an expression of this mindset. For a business our size this is an unusual choice, but for us it was a natural next step. We did not just want to buy renewable electricity; we wanted to be able to document where it comes from and strengthen the connection to the region we are part of.

This would not have been possible without the collaboration with Ishavskraft. As a local energy supplier, they have shown that they share many of the same values we try to build our business on. Through transparency, accessibility and a clear commitment to climate and environmental issues, they have been more than a supplier. They have been a partner who has helped us turn ambitions into action.

We do not believe a single solution alone will change the world. But we believe that many small and deliberate choices, made over time and by many actors at once, can change the course. Therefore, this is not just about electricity. It's about respect for a changing Arctic, responsibility for the place we are part of, and building a business that tries to leave things better than it found them.
